When replacing ink cartridges in you Hewlett Packard printer, occasionally the original or remanufactured HP ink cartridge will not be recognised. The most common Ink Cartridge Problem errors being ““The Following Ink Cartridge must be replaced” or “Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge”. Whilst this can normally be resolved with some simple troubleshooting, it can be difficult to determine which cartridge your printer has a problem with.
These symbols are utilised when reporting a variety of errors and we have produced individual articles offering guidance for the 901, 901XL, 300, 300XL, 301, 301XL, 62 and 62XL inks previously. We have collected these below and also included the HP 350, 350XL, 351 and 351XL too.

What if I don’t have a two cartridge printer?
A few cartridge ranges (like the incredibly popular HP 364 range) have also used symbols to indicate colour. Whilst the symbol is easily identified for cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges, the presence of two black inks in some machines can cause confusion.
Below we have identified the two symbols for the HP 364 and 364XL ink cartridge and labelled accordingly.
