This cartridge is a standard capacity unit supplied with a variety of printers and many people don’t realise there are any alternatives when it comes to buying a replacement. However this cartridge contains less ink than the PG-512 cartridge also available for all compatible printers. In fact if you open up the cartridge (as demonstrated in the video below) the sponge inside only fill half of the cartridge meaning even if you decide to refill the cartridge yourself it is still restricted.
This cartridge contains 9ml of black ink.
How many pages will the PG-510 print?
You can expect to get approximately 220 pages from this cartridge if you are printing with an average page coverage of 5%. However in reality it is likely to be less than this as 5% is a pretty light coverage for an average user.
For more on page coverage please check out our article on the subject here.
What are your thoughts on this cartridge?
As all machines that accept this cartridge will also take the Canon PG-512 that contains more ink it should always be more cost effective to shell out a little extra for the high capacity alternative. Those looking to save a little more should bear in mind these cartridges can also refilled or remanufactured.
