Here at Refresh Cartridges we are dedicated to providing the best experience for our customers and we have recently revised the methods used in our refill by post service. So today I wanted to take a moment to talk about these new methods and how they should improve the service. If you would rather watch the process then you can see a video version of this article towards midway down the page.
Firstly the cartridge is boiled for 20 minutes in a mix of deionised water and a specialised cartridge cleaning solution under a vacuum at a constant temperature of 60 degrees . This lower boiling temperature breaks down any residual ink inside the cartridge and printhead without compromising the sensitive electronic parts of the cartridge. Colour and black cartridges are boiled separately to keep the sponges inside as clean as possible.
The deionised water stops limescale and other substances forming inside the printhead and on the electronic contacts to ensure they are as clean. It is also much less conductive than regular water so reduces the chance of the chip becoming dead electronically.
The label on top of the cartridge and any other branding is removed before being placed in a dedicated filling machine and having a vacuum formed around it. The filler then draws the relevant amount of ink from the twenty specialised inks at their disposal and then injects them directly into the relevant chamber.
The vacuum is now broken and the cartridge removed from the machine re-branded as a refilled cartridge and tested both electronically and for print quality. The cartridge is then placed firmly on a clip to stop ink leaking from it and sealed in an air tight anti static bag for posting.
