ONE Street Tweeter

If you think you have a big cumbersome and impractical printer I have a little something to make you feel better. I would like to introduce you to the Street Tweeter by advocacy group ONE.

This monstrous mobile printer travels at 5 miles an hour and prints politically themed 40 character tweets directly onto the road using water soluble, non-toxic paint. ONE’s mission is to print hundreds of Tweets on the topic of world hunger and poverty to get the attention of G8 leaders and raise awareness in the run up to the G8 summit.

So far they have received thousands of Tweets from over 34 countries and covering every G8 country. A gallery of ONE’s “Street Tweets” can be found here or you can check out their official behind the scenes video below:

The project has received a certain amount of criticism from the online community and prompted suggestions the funds and time may have been better spent helping directly. However if the amount of Tweets submitted are anything to go by I think it is safe to say  awareness has certainly been raised, but whether these voices will be heard by those at the G8 summit is yet to be seen.
