Sumvision N-Cube Pro 2.1 Speaker System Review

Today we will be taking a quick look at the Sumvision N-Cube Pro 2.1 speaker system. In this set you get a 4” subwoofer along with two 3” satellite speakers. Aesthetically these speakers are very pleasing and are mostly black in design with pure white speaker cones in the centre of all three speakers. As a result I don’t believe they would not look out of place in anyone’s set-up at home or the office.

Most importantly the sound from these speakers is excellent in terms of quality. When tested with a variety of music ranging from some fairly delicate electronica to some double bass heavy metal it hold up beautifully never once failing to impress. Even at high volume I struggled to hear any kind of distortion from these speakers and as someone who typically blasts his music for extended periods of time I am happy to report the cones themselves seem very durable. Those who are particularly fussy about their bass and treble setting will be happy to find dedicated controls for them along with a master volume control on the right side of the subwoofer.

The satellite speakers connect directly to the subwoofer which in turn connects to whatever you wish to play the audio from by its RCA phono ports. Whilst the cable provided goes from phono to a 3.5mm audio jack typically used with a PC or MP3 player player it would be possible to connect the phono ports on your TV etc. if you should wish. However I would only recommend this for smaller kitchen/bedroom set-ups as the design of the unit is geared towards use with a PC and may not hold up too favourably if you are trying to watch a blockbuster film in a high ceilinged room.

The disadvantages of the wonderful set are few and far between. The cones of the speakers themselves are completely exposed so those with curious children or who are pretty clumsy may find dented, ripped or damaged cones in their future. Other than this the only other minor gripe I have is that the subwoofer is a little too large for a typical desktop but too small to be left on the floor under a desk without getting an occasional boot across the floor. Whether these issues will affect you or not depends entirely upon your situation so I am hesitant to chalk them up as negative points really.

Overall this is a thoroughly recommendable addition to your desktop and at a typical retail value of around £13 is an absolute steal. Whether you are a PC gamer, music fan or want to get the most out of your windows start up sound effects I would recommend hunting down this great set.
