Refresh Cartridges are offering schools up and down the country the option to earn extra money by showing how much they care for the environment. ‘Recycle with Refresh’ is the new, free cartridge recycling service which encourages schools and their attendees to stop throwing the plastic cartridges in the bin thus avoiding the waste ending up in landfill. In return for their collecting efforts the participating schools receive up to £6 for each cartridge which can be re-manufactured in to a new one. Those which cannot be re-used are broken down and recycled for use as other plastic products. Any money raised goes directly to the schools participating or to their nominated charity.
“This is a non profit initiative with the simple intention of reducing the impact ink-jet and toner cartridges have on our environment,”said Account manager Ian Hamilton. “We have a strong customer base throughout Europe due to the huge savings made by using re-manufactured cartridges as well as the environmental benefits they bestow. By offering additional services such as this one, we hope to raise the profile of Refresh Cartridges and further establish ourselves as the UK’s number 1 choice for ink and toner supplies.”
Approximately 3.5 litres of oil is used to produce each new laser toner cartridge and 90 ml of oil is needed to produce each ink-jet cartridge. It’s estimated that more than 30 million ink-jet cartridges are dumped each year in the UK alone, each made of high quality engineering grade polymers which take up to 1000 years to decompose. These facts help to illustrate the importance of recycling cartridges, especially as the price of oil is ever increasing whilst supplies are depleting.
