How to Reset Brother DR2400 Drum Counter

How to Reset Brother DR2400 Drum Counter

When changing your Brother DR2400 drum unit, your laser printer cannot recognise when a new one has been installed and will continue to state “Replace Drum” or “Drum End Soon” with the new unit. Whether you are using an original Brother product, a compatible DR2400 or even a remanufactured/recycled version, a prompt will need to be given to reset an internal counter for another 12,000 estimated pages.

Thankfully this prompt is easy to enter, regardless of the model of your Brother laser printer. However, if you have had any use out of a DR2400 drum before resetting, please be aware that print quality may deteriorate before the warnings next time.

How do I reset my Brother DR2400 drum unit counter?

From the list of four possible methods below, just select the one that relates to your model of printer and you should be up and running in minutes. Just make you your machine is turned on and follow these simple steps.

For the Brother DCP-L2510D, DCP-L2530DW, DCP-L2550DN, MFC-L2710DN and MFC-L2710DW

  1. Make sure the machine is turned on.
  2. Close the front cover.
  3. Press OK and the Up arrow key at the same time.
  4. Press OK to select Drum.
  5. Press the Up arrow key to reset the drum counter.

For the Brother HL-L2310D

  1. Make sure the machine is turned on.
  2. Make sure that the front cover is open.
  3. Press and hold Go for about four seconds until all of the LEDs light up. When all four LEDs are lit, release Go.
  4. Close the front cover.
  5. Make sure the Drum LED is now off

For the Brother HL-L2350DW, HL-L2370DN, HL-L2370DW and HL-L2375DW

  1. Make sure the machine is turned on.
  2. Close the front cover.
  3. Press OK and the Up arrow key at the same time.
  4. Press OK to select Drum.
  5. Press the Down arrow key to reset the drum counter.

Brother MFC-L2730DW and MFC-L2750DW

  1. Make sure the machine is turned on.
  2. Close the front cover.
  3. Press X (Cancel).
  4. Press and hold Toner (represented by a black rectangle on screen) for five full seconds.
  5. Press Drum, and then press Yes.

Regardless of the model of the printer, you should now be up and running. You can now continue to use the DR2400 drum unit in conjunction with the TN2410 or high capacity TN2420 toner cartridge, until the “Replace Drum or “Drum End Soon” message appears again.
