The TL-FC311B-2 is a high-speed gigabit media converter, equipped with a gigabit RJ-45 port and a gigabit SC fiber port, enabling seamless conversion between electrical and optical signals.
Its capability for long-distance data transmission through optical fiber makes it a suitable choice for commercial applications like park security monitoring and wireless networking.
The TL-FC311B-2 employs WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) technology, allowing data transmission at distances of up to 2 km using a single-mode fiber. This results in significant cost savings for cable deployment.
When operating, the TL-FC311B-2 transmits data at a 1310 nm wavelength and receives data at a 1550 nm wavelength through the optical fiber. Correspondingly, the terminal device used in conjunction with the TL-FC311B-2 should send data at a wavelength of 1550 nm and receive data at a wavelength of 1310 nm.
TP-Link offers another media converter, the TL-FC311A-2, which can be used in tandem with the TL-FC311B-2 for enhanced functionality.
Furthermore, this media converter can be used as a standalone device, eliminating the need for a rack. Alternatively, it can be paired with TP-Link`s TL-FC1420 rack, providing auto MDI/MDI-X in the TX port, where duplex mode is automatically negotiated.
