Product Description:
The StarTech External USB Sound Card (ICUSBAUDIO2D) is a convenient, external solution for adding S/PDIF digital audio output and standard analogue audio connections to a laptop or PC via a USB port, bypassing or replacing the internal sound card without opening the computer case.
This USB audio adapter functions as a high-fidelity USB DAC (digital-to-analog converter), supporting 96KHz / 24-bit sampling rates for both playback and recording, offering home-theater quality sound. For digital output, it includes a 3.5mm S/PDIF port with AC3 (Dolby Digital) and DTS pass-through support.
The device provides 5.1 Surround Sound capability, although this feature is limited to Windows operating systems only. Analogue connections include an integrated 3.5mm 4-position TRRS connection for headphones or a combination headset/microphone, and a separate microphone input (stereo only).
For ease of use, it features an external volume control knob, a hardware Bass/Treble boost EQ switch, and an LED status bar. The sound card is lightweight and highly portable, making it suitable for both PC and Mac users.
